287017_formula_1__2.jpgPorsche manufacturers of the finest cars, when entered into the race, they surprised the world with their performances. Participating in Formula one did not get good results as they got only one win during the 1961-1962 races. They participated as a constructor and won only one race which was by Dan Gurney at the 1962 French Grand Prix.

The non championship race also was claimed by Porsche but at the end of the season they retired citing the reason of high costs. Again in 1983 they returned to Formula 1 which was by delivering engines to McLaren Team. This time they were a bit more successful as the Porsche engined cars won two constructor championships in 1984 and 1985 and the drivers crown in 1984, 1985 and 1986.

Again, less than a decade later they returned as an engine supplier to the Formula 1. This was a disaster for Porsche as they did not score a point but some races they failed to qualify. Since then, the Porsche has not participate in Formula 1.

Although, the Porsche lightly modified engines participates in many amateur competitions. The only professional category they participate is in Porsche Michelin Super Cup which is a support category for European Formula 1 rounds.
