The gasoline prices are hitting the roof and the alternative for the Gas is Diesel. Diesel is better than gas as it is more economical. Usually a diesel engine works differently than the gas engine.

The diesel engine takes in air, compresses it and then injects fuel into the compressed air, where as a gasoline engine takes a mixture of gas and air, compresses it and ignites the mixture with a spark. Diesel engines are stronger than the Gas engines. The Diesel engines run much more than the gasoline engine as they last a long time and some of the engines run up to six Lac miles.

The diesel engine needs maintenance at every approx 3000 miles, and it needs oil change, oil and air filter on a regular basis, as Diesel is not as refined as the gas engine
If you are staying in climates, where it is very cold, then during winters you will need to add some additives to the diesel, which will prevent it from turning to solid. As Diesel tends to solidify in winter.

Even though it is high maintenance, if kept in perfect condition with oil, oil filter, air filter change it will be running for a long time.

1) Find out the local gas prices on the net, rather than driving around to find the prices. You can then visit where the prices are lowest.

2) Keep your vehicle in good shape that will save you lots of gas if your keep your engines in good shape then the vehicle will consume less Gas and you will be saving on Gas. Also keep your tires in perfect condition. If the tires are not inflated properly they can consume more fuel. See that the oil and air filters are kept clean and changed regularly which will help you in keeping your fuel consumption by 20%.

3) When buying Gas try to buy it early in the morning or late at night as the Gas is more solid at a cold temperatures and you will get more for your money’s worth.

4)  Try to keep the speed limits, as higher the speed more consumption of fuel. Try to get all the work done in one shot.  Make a list of jobs to do and combine them. You don’t have to start the engine again and again which will consume more fuel.
